Maria's Voice Prevention Network needed a better way to share its award-winning domestic violence prevention education program on its website. Making this paid, password-protected program easy to access for clients was key to the project's success.

Website Design Process

The Initial Build

For the initial build of the program, I started with the video in the first section, followed by links to the prevention tips in both English and Spanish. Since the tips were lengthy, I organized them into accordion menus at the bottom of the page to keep scrolling easy and intuitive. I also added two more sections that complemented the content: one encouraging visitors to share the common signs page of the website and another to learn more about Maria, the inspiration behind the organization.

Testing and Refining

The initial build was tested by the co-founder, executive director, and the UX-UI Director at a website building tech company. Their feedback was overwhelmingly positive—they found the program easy to follow and log into, and they loved the additional content I added to the page. They suggested a few improvements: making the prevention tips more seamless in execution (to make it easier to navigate from top to bottom and back again) and adding a section at the bottom for donations, newsletter sign-ups, and social media follows.

Making the Program Live

After ironing out bugs and ensuring everything worked seamlessly, we began to make the program live. I tested everything on a single log-in page, which allowed us to easily replicate it for each city, business, or group with their password-protected page. Once the initial set of five pages was ready, adding more in the future would be straightforward. Additionally, I created a postcard for presenters to hand out to these businesses, making it easier for them to access their log-in page, complete with their password.

The End Result

The first group to use the Maria's Voice Prevention Network Domestic Violence Prevention Education program was thrilled with how easy it was to use and share with their employees. They also loved how visually appealing the page was. Since then, we've added more cities and businesses to the log-in page, and the process for adding new members to the prevention network is now streamlined and easy to manage. Maria's Voice plans to add another program to their website in the future, and they intend to come back to me to get the job done.
